Let's talk about following your bliss.
When you think about what sets your heart on fire in terms of your career, what comes to mind? Is it content, operations, thought leadership, public speaking? Whatever it is, I want you to find ways to weave more of THAT into your work. Look for mentorship opportunities. Do your research. Ask questions. Raise your hand if something comes up that falls into your "bliss" category.
Because here's the truth: the way you level up in your career isn't by climbing over other people to get to the top. You don't have to be called something new to be growing your skillset. I've seen people mature immensely for a long time before they got a new title. All you have to do is follow that bliss and trust that the rest will come. It always does.
What's great about Compass is that opportunities abound. Yes, both of our states have seen people move from regional to central teams. Yes, some of us have moved to different orgs within Compass. Yes, some of us make hard choices about whether to stay or go. This is the way of it. Don't panic when that happens. What I love about this place is that we nurture our team's bliss, and we put that above all else, and we support each other as humans, not as employees.
Because we're people first. Remember that.
So dig within your brain to find what your bliss is. Write it down on a piece of paper so that it has a shape. Ask the hard questions. Have the hard conversations. Be honest with each other. Make the harder decision that is right for your long-term growth over the easier decision that will only help in the short term. When change comes for this team, know that it is natural, and double down on your focus. If you need guidance, you'll find it. Just ask us.
Here's what success at Compass boils down to: are you better at what you do today than you were yesterday?
If you are, great, keep going in that direction. If you aren't, figure out how to be. Let it take the amount of time that it takes. Know that they call it growing pains for a reason. If it's uncomfortable, you're doing it right.
Do the work. And don't let any of that other noise around change/shakeups/reorgs get in your way. It can be really, really loud. Your challenge is to turn the volume up on your bliss so that it's all you can hear.
I believe in all of you. At the end of this year, who do you want to be? Once you know, how do you become that version of yourself?
